Formerly domestic quarters for an historic estate manor, this property’s renovation preserves the surrounding woodland characteristics which are anomalous within the suburban context. The layout respects the mature tree canopy, while providing a flowing, almost unconstructed ambiance. Continuous interest is achieved through profuse plantings, softened edges, and meandering, asymmetrical pathways. Grade transitions become indistinct as features such as the biomorphic shaped pool are nestled into the lush hillside.
